Our inner ‘core’
How our core shapes our competence and conduct
The inner element of the C4 Framework concerns the ‘CORE’, it could also be called Character but we preferred ‘CORE’ as your character technically could also be shaped through your actions.
The first reference to Core / Character was coined by Socrates [insert link]

The three core layers
Your core can be divided into three main areas\
[1.2.3] Outer core
Things that are developable. They can be changed with the right attention and effort, often developed through the combination of Education, Experiences, Expose, and Environnement (see the 4E Model), this can be things such as having the right mindset, certain ambitions, knowledge, posture, or skills
[1.2.1] Inner core
Things that are really hard if not impossible to change such as one’s physique, personality, or talents
[1.2.2] Middle core
The middle core: Things that are coachable. Meaning you can change them but it take a lot of effort, time, and motivation. this requires a lot of inward reflection and understanding our inner beliefs, desires, and perspectives

The five XX
Then your Core can be divided into 5 areas
- Values = What one deems important
- Drivers = What motivates someone
- Appearance = How one is perceived
- Understanding = what one knows
- Abilities = What one is able to do
together they influence and shape your competencies. For example, let’s look at the competency “communication”, each of these factor help to shape your communication
- Understanding → knowing what a good communication framework is or understanding the needs of your audience
- Appearance → Having a clear and appealing voice helps to communicate your message
- Drivers → Getting joy and motivation of talking to people helps to be a better communicator
- Values → Believing that ‘you deserve to be heard’ can be an enabling value that gets one to communicate
- Abilities → being able to explain things in a simple and engaging manner
